Latrobe Loop - Latrobe, CA
This scenic route travels through the Cosumnes River canyon and across several creeks, on lightly traveled dirt roads.
The terrain (dirt roads) goes from natural loose rock to hard pack with rock out croppings, shallow to deep water bars and is mostly rolling with a few grades. This is a great winter ride, as there is minimal mud clogging, 90% rideable... 100% if you can make it through the stream crossings!
Since this ride is basically a dirt road, single track seeker's may be disappointed... For the less experienced, this is a nice place to get familiar with the dirt and to get into shape for some more serious trail riding... For the experienced hammerhead, you will find the full loop to be a nice workout when done fast and without stopping.
Rides Originating At Miller's Hill School...
Stone House Road - Go right out of parking lot, stay to the left and follow the dirt-road downhill. In 3.3 miles, Michigan Bar and Latrobe Road will intersect... Keep going straight ahead, on Latrobe Road. At 7.1 miles, you will come to Stone House Road... Reverse your course and ride back to Miller's Hill School. (14.2 miles)
Cosumnes River - Go right out of parking lot, stay to the left and follow dirt-road downhill. In 3.3 miles, Michigan Bar and Latrobe Roads will intersect... Turn left onto Michigan Bar Road and ride until you come to the bridge at Cosumnes River... Reverse your course and ride back to Miller's Hill School. (14.4 miles)
Stone House / Jackson Roads - Go right out of parking lot, stay to the left and follow dirt-road downhill. In 3.3 miles, Michigan Bar and Latrobe Road will intersect... Keep going straight ahead, on Latrobe Road. At 7.1 miles, turn left onto Stone House Road. At 8.6 miles, turn left onto Hwy. 16 / Jackson Road. At 11.5 miles, turn left onto Michigan Bar Road which take you across the Cosumnes River. At 15.5 miles, Michigan Bar Road will dead-end... Turn right onto Latrobe Road and ride back to Miller's Hill School. (18.8 miles)
Note: The section of this ride, on Hwy. 16 / Jackson Road, may expose you to a moderate amount automotive traffic, largely depending upon the time and date that you are riding. Also, you can also start this ride, at the intersection of Hwy. 16 and Murieta Drive, in Rancho Murieta, CA.

How To Get There: From the Hwy. 50 exit, at El Dorado Hills Blvd. / Latrobe Road, go south on Latrobe Road. At approximately eight miles, turn right and park at Miller's Hill school.
Note: The right-hand turn, to get to Miller's Hill School, is unmarked (no street sign). It is the first street, after the 'Latrobe' sign... It is a paved road and there is a house located on that corner.
